The GCCF Standard of Points for Maine Coons
Every breed has a written Standard of Points (known as the SOP) which gives details of all aspects of the cat to be looked at when judging. The number of points for each aspect, indicates how important this feature is. The total number of points is 100, for every breed.
The GCCF Maine Coon SOP follows the original American SOPs, for the USA's native breed, something which we aim to protect so we do not lose those original traits by exagerating one single feature over all others. The whole keys is overall balance - we do not want to see outsized ears or huge heavy drooping ear tips dominating the head, exagerated muzzles and chins or narrow elongated heads.
