Breeding and Registration Policies and the GCCF Standard of Points for Maine Coons -
Updates to GCCF Standard of Points, Registration Policy and Breeding Policy Latest Information & FAQ These have been updated. All documents are constantly under review and we ask all breeders, exhibitors and those wishing to import Maine Coons into GCCF to read them carefully.
The updated registration policy is now in operation and changes have been made to which cats require swabs for DNA testing before being registered on the active (breeding) register.
The breeding policy has also been updated to comply with the revised registration policy. It is strongly advised that all breeders read the breeding policy regularly.
Importing into GCCF:Please read the registration policy to see the latest requirements before you apply to GCCF for cat or kitten registrations/transfers to the active register including importation of cats from other cat registering bodies or if you currently have cats registered on the GCCF Active Register. There is now a list of DNA tests which must be completed for any applications to have cats or kittens placed on on the GCCF active breeding register from 1st January 2024. We strongly advise reading the new registration policy and contacting GCCF for the required testing and a list of organisations which are approved to conduct these tests before you arrange testing to take place. GCCF Showing & Judging Information
The Maine Coon – GCCF Standard – Identifying Correct Type and Breed Faults:
A new document has been produced to help breeders, owners and judges when either evaluating their own cats, buying new cats or judging at shows. It explains why the Maine Coon looks the way it does, shows examples of correct and incorrect features and is a great help to anyone interested in learning more about the breed. View the document here (pdf)
Letter sent to GCCF Judges:A letter was circulated to all GCCF judges who judge Maine Coons. The MCBAC and the club committee felt that this information should be shared with the wider public. If you show with GCCF, or breed and sell kittens for showing with GCCF we strongly advise that you read the circulated document Maine Coon Breed Advisory Committee Letter to Judges (pdf format).
